Two international meetings of seminarians

with His Eminence Cardinal Joachim Meisner, Archbishop of Cologne,
on Wednesday 17 August 2005 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

and with His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. (registration required)
on Friday 19 August 2005 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.


While in Germany for WYD, His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI wishes to meet also seminarians from all over the world – and the priests who train them.

This meeting is scheduled for Friday, 19 August 2005, between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the church of St. Pantaleon. It will be preceded by prayers, which start at 4 p.m.

On Wednesday, 17 August 2005, two hours of Eucharistic Adoration (from about 4.pm. to 6.p.m.) will be led by His Eminence Cardinal Meisner at the same church. Seminarians from all over the world, plus those involved in the training of priests and those interested in the priesthood, are very invited to attend.

Those wishing to attend are kindly requested to send an email to this address: geistliches-zentrum@wjt2005-seminaristen.deand submit details as the number of participants, status (seminarian or teacher) and diocese of origin.

The meeting with His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI is a ticketed event. There are about 5.000 places. To ensure that really seminarians will attend it is suggested that:

1. Until 31th July Seminarians and those in charge of the training of priests use the online-registration on this website www.wjt2005-seminaristen.de, indicating the number of participants from their diocese and their status (seminarian or teacher)

2. the tickets be collected upon arrival in Cologne from the church of St. Pantaleon on one of these days: 15/16/17 August between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., 18 August between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. only (N.B. To obtain the ticket or tickets, one has to submit a letter of recommendation from the bishop of the diocese and your identity card)

3. participating seminarians bring a flag of their country
